In 1935, General George Whittell Jr. had the opportunity to purchase 40,000 acres of land on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. The purchase included 27 miles of northern shoreline. By 1968, over three thousand homes stood in Incline Village with plans on the way for a brand new ski resort. In 1987, this resort became Diamond Peak and doubled in size with the addition of new ski runs.
Today, Diamond Peak Ski Resort is located just behind the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe and ranks in the World’s 100 Best Ski Runs. The Hyatt Regency competes with three other premier resorts in the area, including Tahoe Biltmore Lodge & Casino, Parkside Inn at Incline, and the Hyatt Residence Club Lake Tahoe. Guests and residents can enjoy both the Incline Village Championship Golf Course and Incline Village Mountain Golf Course. Both are surrounded by lush foliage with lake views amongst many other recreational facilities in the community.
