North Valleys is a highly-populated neighborhood located in northern Reno, Nevada, between Silver Lake and Swan Lake with Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Hwy (NV-395) running along the southern border. The community is constantly shifting and growing and the population is made up of a large portion of families.
The average houses found in North Valleys are detached, single-family houses. These houses typically consist of three or four bedrooms. The median listing price in the North Valleys neighborhood is $350,000.
North Valleys, Reno, Amenities
The North Valleys neighborhood is surrounded by picturesque mountain scenery. The proximity to the mountains allows residents ample opportunity to hike and explore the mountainous terrain of Nevada. Along with many hiking trails, North Valleys is home to many different parks and recreational areas such as Dorothy McAlindon Park, North Valleys Regional Park, and North Valleys Splash Park.
All of the essentials of daily living can be found right in the community such as grocery stores, banks, medical facilities, and restaurants. For a greater variety, residents can venture the 12 miles south to thriving downtown Reno. The downtown core is known for its bustling activity including diverse restaurants, unique array of local shops, and exciting nightlife.
Along the northern border of the North Valleys neighborhood sits Reno-Stead Airport. The airport is home to the National Championship Air Races and is steadily growing as an economic hub for northern Nevada.
Another fantastic amenity nearby is the Sierra Sage Golf Course. This affordable course provides the perfect opportunity to practice your golf swing at their fantastic practice range as well as play through the 18-hole course, which offers several different challenge levels.
North Valleys, Reno, School Information
North Valleys is provided education through the Washoe County School District. Consisting of 96 elementary, middle, and high schools, WCSD is the second-largest school board in all of Nevada and is home to some of the highest-ranking schools in the state.
Silver Lake Elementary School is home to over 558 students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. With a teacher to student ratio of 16:1, students at this school get more one-on-one time than the average Nevada school, which has a ratio of 20:1. Located on Red Baron Boulevard, Silver Lake Elementary School is within three miles of most of the homes in the North Valleys neighborhood.
William O’Brien Middle School is located on Stead Boulevard and is within two miles of the homes in North Valleys. O’Brien educates students in the 6th to 8th grades and has grown considerably over the last five years with an 18 percent increase to their student population of approximately 810 children.
North Valleys High School is home to the Panthers and consists of approximately 2,030 students in the 9th to the 12th grades. Located in the southwestern section of the North Valleys neighborhood on East Golden Valley Road, the school is under five miles from the homes in the community.
Outside of Washoe County School District, residents of North Valleys have the option of sending their children to a privately-run charter school. Sierra Nevada Academy Charter School has options for primary, middle, and high school students and puts the focus of education on small-town, tight-knit community schooling.
