Rancharrah earned its design, build, and name from William F. Harrah, better known as Bill Harrah. Harrah was the owner and operator of Harrah’s Reno and Harrah’s Lake Tahoe in Stateline. You can find Bill’s impressive personal car collection on display at the National Automobile Museum in downtown Reno. Constructed in 1957, the private estate Rancharrah was an oasis for Harrah, his family, friends, and the occasional celebrity or United States President. In 2016, Rancharrah announced a new vision and plan for the area to become a 141-acre private community for 650 residents.
