Glenbrook, Nevada Overview
Glenbrook, Nevada got its name in the 1860s when sawmill owner and settler Augustus W. Pray named the area after the Glenbrook House Hotel, which is still operating today. The Glenbrook House was built in 1863 during the Comstock Lode and for the next decade was known as the most luxurious hotel. Glenbrook is the oldest Lake Tahoe settlement and today, it is a gated community along the shoreline of East Lake Tahoe. Only 150 of 750 available acres have been developed, leaving 600 acres of Lake Tahoe’s natural beauty surrounding these lakeview homes.
Glenbrook is in the center of the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe about 10 miles north of Stateline. From Glenbrook, Carson City is only a 30 minute drive down the mountain and only an hour drive to the heart of Reno. Glenbrook Bay splashes the shores nestled between Deadman Point and South Point.
