Del Webb, Reno Overview

Sierra Canyon by Del Webb is a 55 and up active adult community located within Somersett of Northwest Reno. The neighborhood has its own 20,000 square foot clubhouse with an indoor pool and walking track. Somersett residents’ HOA fees cover many amenities for homeowners such as access to bocce ball courts, a driving range, and to the Somersett Country Club’s facilities. Del Webb residents also get membership to Aspen Lodge of Sierra Canyon with their association dues. Aspen Lodge is a recreation and athletic club that even has bowling lanes.

The Somersett Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole golf course at the center of this northwestern neighborhood in the hills. The course sprawls through desert landscaping and seven different lakes with gorgeous views of the Alpine Vistas mountain range. Somersett’s HOA also designed the Canyon Nine Golf Course as a fun short course exclusively for residents. Somersett Park - East is a neighborhood recreational area nestled between the greens of the golf course and the desert hills. Visitors can enjoy a game of half-court basketball or bring the kids to play on the jungle gym in the center of the park.

The Somersett Welcome Center is just inside the community near Grace Day Spa and Sakana Sushi. Somersett Club at Town Center in the same shopping center features an elite fitness facility, two spas, a massage room, an interactive pool with slides, and a junior Olympic size swimming pool. The Somersett Trails are a collection of 24 trails, including the Somersett Cityside Trail, Silver Willow Trail, Logan Ridge Corridor Trail, and the Somersett Eagle Trail. These trails bring you into the serene nature setting of what makes living in Somersett and northern Nevada so great.

Just outside the entrance to Somersett is the local favorite burger joint, Burger Me! The restaurant is next to the Sharlands Square shopping center with St. Mary’s Medical Center. McQueen Crossings Shopping Center is north on Robb Drive with Raley’s, Bully’s Sports Bar & Grill, Dickeys Barbecue Pit, Sakana Express, and Umpqua Bank. Bangkok Express and Casa Grande restaurants are in the center across the street. Ridgeview Plaza is a mile and a half east with retail stores Ross and Kohl’s plus great food options like Safeway, Chipotle, and Wingstop. Canyon Creek Shopping Center across the street is home to Ijji 4 Korean Bar-B-Que, Flowing Tide, Save Mart, and Walgreens with Planet Fitness coming soon.

Somersett and Del Webb residents frequent the Mayberry Landing Boutique with its unique selection of restaurants. Choose from Buenos Grill, Eclipse Pizza, Franz Backstube Austrian Café, and Walden’s Coffeehouse. After dinner, have a drink at Whispering Vine or dessert at Yogurt Beach. A block north on 4th Street and McCarran Boulevard is the fine dining of Johnny’s Ristorante plus a larger Whispering Vine that offers a full menu five days a week.

Excellent schools are available to the children in the Del Webb area. Students begin at Verdi Elementary School before heading to Billinghurst Middle School. McQueen High School has served students since 1982. The school was named after the former University of Nevada professor of Psychology Dr. Robert McQueen. The McQueen Lancers’ big rival is the Reno High Huskies.
